Sleeping Arrangements

Previously in the condo, hubby and I slept on a queen sized bed against the wall. Boyboy slept in his cot.

My woes then were that boyboy keeps wanting to come over and sleep with us. And that he was fast outgrowing his cot.

I was looking forward to moving into my new house where I can put a super single mattress beside our queen bed so that boyboy can sleep with us yet on his own bed.

Oh my.....I was so super wrong.

At 3.30 am (or thereabouts), semi conscious, he will kneel at the side of my bed and push me further into the middle.
Then he will crawl up and sleep beside me.

If I don't move, he will crawl over me (stepping on my lungs and stomach with no mercy) and sleep in between us.
Kick off the covers and leave me freezing in the cold.

Usually I wait till he falls asleep again and then carry him back down.
This can happen 2-3 times in a night or not at all.

And now that our queen sized bed is in the middle of the room,
hubby is very very insecure....
Coz when boyboy pushes, he feels like he is almost going to fall down
on the cold cold floor....
where now most mornings, he bolster lays.

It's just a phase, just a phase....

hmmm... I re-read thinking that I missed out on something, but after re-reading I'm still a little confused. Enlighten me please...

ok, so you have a single bed and the queen size bed side by side?
boyboy on single bed, you in the centre and hubby at the other end?
if so, how can the bed be in the centre? hmmmm....

cos my younger one do that very often too, he still do it now every now and then.

so we pushed the queen size bed against the wall on one side...

hehehe.. ur boy so cute, siap can push u or even step on u! haha!

ours, we are staying in a small apartment, so its a king bed & a bb cot leaving no space in between de. i try putting lil missy in bb cot sometimes, she will always cry in the middle of the nite. so for now, she is sleeping in between us :)

hahahaah...it's always like that eh? guess he wants to be near you all the time. i still have to carry ashley back to her bed which is a single beside the wall. Ours is just next to her so it looks like a huge bed.

btw, i bought those plastic animals/reptiles from pasar malam :) good educational toys but they really scare the living daylights out of me.

Angeline - if you face the beds, it goes from right to left...wall, single bed, queen bed, floor.....so I sleep on the queen bed on the left of hubby now....and on the right of boyboy....am i confusing you furhter?

Irene - reckon all our kids want to sleep with us - talk about 100% bonding...but at that time? hai....

Ashley's mum - yeah...have to wait till they are fast fast asleep before we can try any stunts....and people wonder why I don't have #2 yet! :)

hmmmm .... my son is 16 months... he sleeps in our bed only... I am planning to shift him in his own bed around 2 years... is it good time to do that?

I know exactly what you mean and how you feel .. cos I have been experiencing this every single night for the past one year ever since we removed the cot and put a super single on the floor next to our bed .. hahahaa. And you know what, my son turns 2 next month and he still wants his night feeds .. so damn tiring man!

No advice, just that you've got to do what works best for you and it can always change over time. Nowadays E won't have a bar of anything other than going to sleep in her own bed in her own room, and A is back to wanting company when it comes to sleep time!

GO figure...

Ann, rachael is still sleeping in between us...but i cannot TAHAN her rotating 360 degrees every nite! so we are slowly moving her to her own playpen to sleep (after she dozed off!) and hopefully by 2 yrs old, she will be able to sleep by herself...

the fact your bed is in the center, it's bcos there's 2 side tables? just like us...initially i didnt thought of sleeping with my daughter/son (while renovating) so we came up with 2 bedside tables, hence we can't push the bed against the wall now...sigh...

Hi Ann, ha ha, love your sleeping arrangement, and you know, lots of parents call their sons, 'boyboy'.
Or "Ah boy"....My mom calls me, "Hoi!". Ha ha. Lee.

Jaanvi - GOOD LUCK! Some kids take it easier...some kids don't. Maybe your boyboy will love his own bed!

Family First - hmmm...night feeds are really a chore...must since you are at it...why not try for #2? hahaha....left hand feed one, right hand feed another....(just joking!)

Moo Mummy - ok, your situation is worse! 4 in a bed? King size also not enough!

Hissychick - gosh! really? I thought there will be no turning back once they get bigger! :)

June - we don't have any side tables...the reasonthe queen bed is in the middle is becuase we wanted both sides of boyboy's mattress to be confined - as in wall at one side and our bed on the other side!

Lee - hahaha....what can I say....she must be one super busy woman!

what i do now is, no bed. only mattress. 1 king & 1 single.
so both mattresses are level, n the single is against the wall.
i gave up carrying philip back to his single bed every time he comes over. i just let it be. but i realized after sometime, he is sleeping towards his bed more...he just comes over to "smell" me (to be sure i'm there) and goes back... funny huh.

Now, I am on the floor permanently so that I won't have to feel any kungfu kicks in the night. Hehe.

We have got the two bigger boys on the floor now (mattress), and the wee baby is sometimes between Mommy and Daddy and sometimes by the headboard (we are sleeping sideways - king bed).

Mommy is the one who has to be moving up and down, depending on which of the boys call.
How about that?

As for "stunts" that we will have to figure out after this month of confinement.

Haha...Christopher is so cute. He really push you? Hope he will get used to this arrangement before #2 comes right?

Jonathan is still sleeping in between us. He would not let us go far coz he needs to "physically" feel our presence.
